On February 29, at the Normandie Hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Anixter held the Security IP Convergence seminar, with the sponsor and backup of Nortel, Panduit and Sony. The seminar was an ideal opportunity to review the latest trends in security systems and present a series of updating workshops.

The Caribbean region channels had already had their chance to check these trends on February 26, which was the date when the training seminar was celebrated in Trinidad & Tobago, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Both in Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago, the seminars presented the most cutting-edge solutions in IP convergence, and focused on the advantages and disadvantages of analog, hybrid and digital systems, as well as the importance of installing sound high-performance cabling infrastructures.

Also under consideration were issues such as standard revision, new integrated technologies and basic networking and PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology principles, along storage and compression considerations in security system networks.

Anixter will continue developing this type of events throughout the region, so that all channels can benefit from them. For example, the next meeting will be celebrated on April 10, at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, Jamaica.
