Latest Trends on Standards Creation
On May 19 and 20, Colombia welcomes the BICSI Andean 2010. Anixter will take part in the conference agenda with Andrew Jiménez, Global Vice President of Technology and a member of ANSI, TIA, EIA and the IEEE for the creation of standards. Don’t miss his talk on IP-based Infrastructures for mission critical spaces.

Anixter invites its value partners to take part in the BICSI Andean Conference 2010, one of the most important trade shows and academic events on telecommunication and data transportation infrastructures in the region. In its sixth edition to be held on May 19–20, at the Carmel Club, Bogotá, the BICSI Conference will welcome the main players in the creation of industry standards at a global level.

Aimed at telecommunication consultors, design and telecommunications cabling distributors and system managers, there will a number of top-class technical exhibitions coordinated by worldwide industry leading experts.

In addition to presenting its own exhibition stand in the show, Anixter will be offering a technological conference in charge of Andrew Jiménez, Global Vice President of Technology. Jiménez has been invited to the conference thanks to his over 20 years experience in telecommunications equipment tests and product certifications. Jimenez is currently a member of TIA (Telecommunication Industry Association) TR-42.7 cabling standards committee, and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.3 LAN/MAN committe. Additionally, from his managing direction position at the Anixter Chicago Laboratory, he’s working on the development of research and standards for new products.

In his presentation “IP-based Infrastructures for mission critical spaces”, Jiménez will explain why this technology is key to protecting data centers, and will be giving details on the latest communications and security trends for the different fiber optic cabling solutions, wireless mesh technologies, surveillance and access control systems. In addition, Jimenez will be addressing the importance of security in sensitive equipment and infrastructures stored in data centers, and the advantages to implementing a staged approach when installing protection systems with the use of new technologies, such as locking systems at cabinet level.
On the other hand, Jiménez will give a demonstration on how to integrate access control systems with video applications or event recording to verify and record access to certain areas or systems within the data center. By doing so, you obtain greater flexibility to migrate and evolve depending on the technological requirements of each one of the devices.

With an agenda of major international lecturers in the industry, BICSI Andean 2010 is regarded as one of the biggest conferences and academic events in the Latin American region.
