According to the latest global trends, innovative buildings are adopting integrated infrastructure solutions. For the most part, in commercial buildings operations in HVAC, fire detections systems, security, lightning and power installations coexist with one another independently. In an intelligent building, these systems are totally integrated and communicate centrally.
For example, in a traditional building scenario, the smoke detection system will set off an alarm in the presence of smoke. Whereas in an intelligent building, the fire detection subsystem will also communicate with the HVAC system, immediately shut down the air ventilation and send a signal to the security subsystem so that all doors are opened automatically. This capability makes it possible to link or integrate building automation systems (BAS).
Even if traditional infrastructures allow to have this type of scenario, it is possible to go beyond that and link the whole BAS with the communications systems within a building. By linking the building users’ voice and data communications and the BAS on the same infrastructure, an intelligent building infrastructure system (IBIS) enables an efficient, outlined management platform, which offers the benefit of an improved, higher performance environment.
With the IBIS Solutions offered by Anixter, all the building’s systems -including automation, communications, video surveillance and access control systems-converge on the same common infrastructure and provide an improved level of efficiency and performance in crossed systems.
