New PDU with Metering-by-Outlet technology
APC by Schneider Electric, global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, has announced the launching of the new PDU solution, APC’s Next Generation Metered and Switched Rack PDU units. CNX gives you all the details of this innovative solution that will help you maximize your customer’s power efficiency.
In August this year, APC by Schneider Electric, leading provider of solutions for integrated power critical and cooling environments, and Anixter’s strategic partner, announced the launching of the new model in the PDU family for Next generation Racks, which enables power measurement on each individual outlet.
This is the latest incorporation in APC’s Next Generation PDU racks family line, which features power monitoring functions and energy use registration in every device, thus enabling IT managers to be able to track how much power each connected device is consuming. Thanks to the power consumption visibility in every active outlet, customers can adjust the load attached to the Rack PDU and maximize power efficiency.

Increased Capabilities
With the incorporation of the Next Generation Metered and Switched Rack PDU units, your customers’ infrastructure will be boosted, enabling IT professionals with new capabilities to maximize power efficiency. Next on, CNX Anixter brings you all the details of the new capabilities included in this new solution:

Meter the power distributed to equipment by individual outlet - Provides the IT professional a more granular view of the power within the enclosure beyond the previous ability to meter at the phase level. Metering-by-outlet now provides the ability to analyze component power trends and perform capacity planning.

Efficiently adjust the attached load as needed and plan for the future – The Rack PDU includes software bringing visibility to the energy usage of each individual component attached to the Rack PDU as well as detailed logs which can be used when planning for future expansion or reorganization.

Remotely manage individual outlets – IT managers utilize remote outlet level controls to allow power on/off functionality for power recycling to reboot locked-up equipment and to avoid unauthorized use of individual outlets. Power sequencing delays allow IT managers to define the order in which to power up or down attached equipment and assist in avoiding circuit overloads during power recovery events and ultimately extends uptime of critical equipment by prioritizing load shedding.
