Anixter has two specialized technical laboratories in Illinois, US: the Enterprise Cabling and the Physical Security Labs. They develop applications and tests designed to determine the most suitable systems to meet customers’ current and future IT needs in the different channels. These tests enable detection of errors in current infrastructures, a key factor when it comes to deciding which is the best option to further improve current and future performance.

Anixter Enterprise Cabling Lab is the only UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certified laboratory, which means it performs independent tests on developing 10 Gig cabling solutions. These tests evaluate electrical features, such as attenuation, return loss and alien crosstalk, all part of the Augmented Cat 6 specification draft.

Another key feature: in order to ensure all cabling solutions reach top performance level requirements and reliability, the Enterprise Cabling Lab considers the highest performance parameter: alien crosstalk in the worst possible scenario.

These labs also run performance tests on products available in the Anixter inventory so as to guarantee the quality of standards compliance, as well as other tests, such as network performance and interoperability, verification of regulation compliance for fiber and copper cabling systems (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, IEEE), customer concept, application and PoE evaluations, among others.

The Security Lab, on the other hand, performs tests such as video over IP, video quality and bandwidth, Closed Circuit Twisted Pair (CCTP), capability verification for PoE systems, digital compression in image quality, (versus analog technology testing), video management software and DVRs, NVDRs and NVRs evaluation.

Thanks to the work of our exclusive laboratories, all solutions available at Anixter are compliant with the toughest manufacturing and engineering standards, and offer the highest quality in cabling systems for end-to-end networks.
