On July 8, Anixter, alongside Exterbox Electronic Solutions and Polycom, invited end users in Jamaica to a business breakfast at the Hilton Kingston Hotel. Early in the morning, a great number of attendees got together to check on Polycom’s solution portfolio for telemedicine, distance learning, remote recruitment and virtual field visits.

Presentations were made using Polycom HD telepresence solutions. Radamés Rangel, Polycom engineer, cooperated in the presentation by introducing a demostration on the system’s operation.

Health Care Industry: Important Backup
After sharing breakfast, guests attended the first talk by Ron Emerson, Global Director for the Health Care Market with Polycom. From an HD Polycom screen, Emerson talked about the possible medical scenarios and how telemedicine and health care management solutions developed by the manufacturer and distributed through Anixter can greatly collaborate in this area.

He also pointed out how Polycom is aware of all the challenges faced by health care organizations today, and how, based on that, the manufacturer offers a varied solutions and services portfolio designed to meet the needs of providers in this industry. All devices are interoperable, which makes Polycom medical station an ideal solution for training procedures and teletuition. In addition, this solution features key options for first care, cardiology, emergencies, intensive care and surgical follow up.

As checked out by attendees to the first talk, Polycom’s high resolution telepresence solution offers a real-life experience with maximum flexibility. Emerson used two screens for this demonstration. With contents on the big screen, Ron was able to capture people’s attention easily by using it as a blackboard while he was visible and speaking to everyone in the LCD screen at left.

Secure, Effective Education Solutions
After a short break, Ross Colbert, Education Global Director at Polycom, presented a number of distance learning alternatives for reaching multi-national education opportunities and providing secure training options regardless of the place students are located. Through Polycom’s HD screens, guests discovered the power of distance learning with the help of telepresence technology, and also shared a virtual field trip. The audience felt at ease and showed their confort by openly discussing with Ross, who was attentively listening.
