Anixter offers a wide variety of wireless products, including, for example, Proxim’s Orinoco AP-4000, a three- mode access point that provides capabilities, security, expandability and easy management.

The Orinoco AP 4000 is an easy-to-install solution that helps reduce growth costs through automatic selection of channels and cell-size control to optimize users’ density.
This business access point automatically supports all Wi-Fi customers and complies with the 802.11b/g and 802.11ª standards. It also supports the IEEE 802.3af standard that enables power feeding to the equipment through a UTP or network cable.

It also includes security features, such as intrusion detection, secure management interfaces (SNMPv3, HTTPS) and WPA, Wi-Fi Protected Access, making it an ideal solution for large to mid-sized businesses wanting to expand mobility in their Ethernet networks.

The Orinoco AP-4000 also supports 16 VLANs (Private Virtual Networks) separated by radio, with different security schemes. The result is increased flexibility and improved access to multiple networks on the same point of access, plus the possibility to divide users into employees, contractors and guests.

With an effective throughput of 40 Mbps and a high capacity with 15 independent channels that enable efficient operation, Orinoco presents a complete set of secure management interfaces (such as SNMPv3 for HP OpenView integration and other SNMP managers) and RADIUS and HTTP authorization via SSL, which help improve compatibility with the management systems that integrate wireless and cabling networks.
