How to stay ahead

Data centers are the central axis of the network’s capabilities. Therefore, and in spite of the economic crisis, organizations keep investing in DC in order to guarantee their quality and maintain their business goals. According to a global survey on Data Centers, commissioned by Brocade, CommScope, Eaton and Intel, almost a third part (32%) of all organizations surveyed around the world is developing new data centers, while more than four over five (83%) existing data centers keep receiving investment for their infrastructure and technology projects.

Given the conditions of the current economic context, almost two thirds (65%) of the companies surveyed were asked to show a specific return on investment (ROI) before their data center projects were considered for approval.

More than 730 IT professionals from 54 countries, all of them responsible for the data centers in their organizations, answered the questions in this survey, which focused on the latest trends regarding equipment for their data centers, design and future developments.

The survey shows that the importance of the performance and the quality of the data center infrastructure are highly valued. Thus, most of the people included in the survey mentioned performance (62%) and easiness of maintenance (54%) as the main considerations when taking purchase decisions, whereas 50% assured their decisions were based on the price (50 %).
