Juniper and Polycom Unite to Improve Visual Communications
The Juniper-Polycom alliance will be exploiting their intelligent network resources to the maximum to offer best-quality telepresence and videoconferencing services. The integration of solutions will be launched by mid 2010 and will be providing a more scalable, profitable model when compared to current systems with overlapping networks.
The telecommunications industry presents constant challenges for its business leaders. To be able to exceed customers’ expectations, manufacturers need to leverage and exploit their potentialities and foster constant technological evolution. With this in mind,
Juniper and
Polycom have decided to join in a strategic alliance to improve reliability, costs and the quality of their telepresence and videoconferencing services.
This video service joint solution will help reduce total costs and continuous operation and maintenance requirements. In addition, its new, integrated functions will provide an improvement in the delivery and manoeuvrability of visual communications, both for providers and business customers.
Juniper + Polycom SynergyThe integration of solutions will be combining Juniper’s high performance network infrastructure systems with Polycom’s telepresence and videoconferencing systems.
Juniper components include: Junos Space platform and its subscribers with policy and secuirty services, MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers and SRX Series Services Gateways with integrated routing and security. On the other hand, Polycom incorporates telepresence systems as well as visual communication infrastructures, including Distributed Media Application (DMA) which centralizes call control and provides greater recovery redundancy in case of failure.
This integration between manufacturers allows for a coordinated, dynamic distribution of video and network resources. With this kind of help, providers are able to offer high quality services within a shared network.
One Strategy, Multiple AdvantagesThe alliance will be launched by mid 2010 and will be providing an intelligent solution for video services with guaranteed quality through a converged network. With this type of approach, the implementation of a unique network solution will be providing a more scalable, profitable model for providers when compared to the current systems of overlapped networks.
Business customers will also have greater control over the delivery of services. The Juniper-Polycom alliance will enable for telepresence and videoconferencing traffic to go through the same network equipment. This joint solution can further drive collaboration, increase productivity and reduce costs, since it provides reliable, cost-effective managed service options.
The managed service model also provides a quicker return on investment, since it requires lower initial investment and offers the possibility to predict continuous operational costs.
“By uniting with Juniper, our goal is to improve quality and efficiency in network visual communications so that customers are capable of safely incorporating technolgy onto their key business processes”, said Bob Hagerty, Polycom CEO. In addition, this synergy among manufacturers will enable the expansion and improvement of the solutions available within the
Anixter portfolio distributed to both channels and customers across different geographies all over the world.
